Today I’ve got a great pot luck recipe that will have everyone drooling. My dad is always requesting these to take to his work parties and they always ask for more.
This recipe is quick, easy and so good you’ll be making these everyday! Use the hashtag #ChristmasCollabWithFafa and show my what your favourite potluck meal is!
Chebureki (Russian Patties)
2/3 cup water
1 1/2 tbsp oil (I used canola oil)
1 tsp salt
2 cup flour
1 cup ground beef
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup oil for frying (I used canola oil)
In a mixer, add 3 3/4 cup flour, salt and oil. Give it a good mix and slowly add 2/3 cup of HOT water. Make sure it’s hot water or the dough won’t fry well.
Knead dough until soft, shape into a circle shape and sprinkle with some flour if needed. Set aside.
In a medium sized bowl, mix 1 cup ground beef, 1 diced onion, 1 1/2 tsp salt and black pepper for taste (add by preference). Mix all ingredients together.
On a large cutting board, sprinkle some flour. Take out your dough and cut in half. Take on half and roll into a long roll and cut small to medium sized pieces.
Take each piece and star by rolling it out into a circle – almost the size of your hand. Place filling in the middle (around 2 1/2 tbsp) and fold in half and press sides together. Take a pastry cutting wheel and wheel around to make edges clean. Repeat.
Heat 1 deep wok or pan with 1 1/2 cups of oil for frying at high heat. Make sure the oil is piping hot before you add your patty. Fry each side for 2-3 mins or until golden. Make sure not to burn them!
